Progeny of a cross.
The first generation, the one participating in the above cross is described as the P generation. The progeny of crosses within the F1 generation are termed the F2 generation.
In a monohybrid cross, the actual cross is within the F1 generation as the cross within the P generation is what generates the monohybrid.
