Triplet Code

Alternative means of describing genetic code based on the size in nucleotides of codons.

The triplet code is nearly but not quite universal among extant organisms. This near universality is suggestive that the same genetic code was present in common ancestor to all living organisms, also known as the last universal ancestor or universal common ancestor).
