Translocation (chromosomal)

Movement via breakage and rejoining of DNA from one location to another.

Translocation literally means change in location. Chromosomal translocation is movement of parts of DNA to either different locations within the same chromosome or to different chromosomes.

Translocation can be reciprocal, as in reciprocal translocation, meaning that two distinct pieces of DNA exchange locations.
