G2

Gap between S phase and M phase of the cell cycle.

During G2 the DNA has already been replicated, persists as chromatin, and can be throught of as consisting of sister chromatid pairs, though those pairs are not yet visible. In addition, the nuclear membrane remains intact and, in most cases, the cell displays a substantial amount of translation and growth in size.

G2 ends with the start of M phase, which more specifically occurs at the start of prophase.
