Cellular organism with chromosomal DNA that is enclosed within a membranous nucleus.

Eukaryotes are members of domain Eukarya, have cells that possess a cell nucleus and other membrane-enclosed organelles, generally have larger, more complex cells than prokaryotes, and in many cases also possess complex, multicellular bodies.

The cells of eukaryotes also tend to contain other membrane-bound organelles as well as mitochondria, potentially plastids, and other endosymbiotic organisms Eukaryotic organisms are members of domain Eukarya.

Contrast eukaryotes among cellular organisms with prokaryotes, that is, domains Archaea and Bacteria. Eukaryotes include animals, fungi, plants, and protists (including eukaryotic algae).
