Animal possessing ectodermal and endodermal primary germ layers but no mesoderm.

Diploblastic animals include particularly the jellyfish and related members of phylum Cnidaria. Instead of mesodermal tissue, these animals possess an acellular layer between that lining their gastrovascular cavity (endoderm) and that covering the animal (ectoderm). The consequence is an animal that has a relatively simple body plan as well as a relatively unsophisticated behavior and movement.
