Allopolyploidy

Doubling or tripling (etc.) of the number of chromosomes found in an organism's cells where all of the chromosomes are not derived from the same species.

Allopolyploidies can result from nondisjunction as well as other means and can can lead to sympatric speciation events. See also autopolyploidy.
