Protein constituent of microfilaments.

Though we tend to think of Actin as filamentous, in fact those filaments are multi-protein structures rather than individual proteins, that is with microfilaments made of globular protein actin subunits.

Actin more generally is a component of the cytoskeleton of eukaryotic cells, there playing multiple functions in addition to contributing to various forms of intracellular movement.
